About BROWN PSYCHOTHERAPY & ASSOCIATES
Proudly serving the Greater Toronto Area, Oakville for over 20 years, offering the knowledge and experience to get you on the road to recovery as soon as possible.
I use an eclectic approach to psychotherapy with my clients while having an addictions and trauma focus during my clinical supervision of other therapists.
My work is divided equally between doing direct psychotherapy practice with my clients and supervising applicants seeking membership with the CRPO. Supervision is offered both in agency settings and remotely/privately (clinical supervision page). I’m adept at assessing my clients issues out loud, as I listen, I offer a high degree of transparency which builds trust quickly and allows work to be done at a good pace. I focus on raising awareness for my clients through highlighting underlying themes that arise during the assessment while collaboratively developing treatment goals and a comprehensive, idiosyncratic treatment plan tailored to capture and meet each individual’s needs by working towards accomplishing the goals. The treatment plan is comprised of interventions and exercises that I have learned to integrate in a way to readily bring about behavioural changes that become deep and lasting.
I use a strengths based approach and help my clients to identify and use their skills to overcome obstacles that impede their life’s goals while not just merely addressing the presenting issue alone, in isolation of other possible issues that might arise during treatment like many therapists do. After 5-10sessions we will have developed and mostly completed a treatment plan crafted to eventually become self-directed reducing the need for costly ongoing psychotherapy. When the core work is done, for any fine-tuning that left- I recommend occasional “tuneups” thereafter (until completion of the whole treatment plan).
I’m a member in good-standing with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I’m a member of EMDRIA Canada (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association)
